Junior Electrical Engineer

ENA2 is seeking to hire a senior electrical engineer to be part of our green energy start-up initiative named- PowerLoop Green Energy Technologies. The candidate will work under the direction of the Lead Electrical Engineer and will be responsible for providing accurate and customized PowerLoop energy solutions that satisfy business and other stakeholder needs. The candidate should be proficient with electrical machines, power electronic converters, power generation and transmission systems, distributed energy systems, on-grid, and off-grid operations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Carry out duties and responsibilities as assigned by the lead electrical engineer
  • Perform the background research and design calculations required for new power generation projects
  • Understand the client requirements and prepare technical reports outlining the deliverables
  • Deliver technical presentations to vendors to customize the power plant components and prepare RFPs &RFQs, and record meeting minutes
  • Prepare the cost estimate of different capacity power plants based on the proposal received from vendors
  • Do the energy calculations, pay back period calculations, capital cost and O&M cost estimate of the proposed power plant and assist the marketing team in preparing the website content and PowerLoop brochures
  • Assist in the design and fabrication of laboratory-scale prototypes of the proposed power generation systems
  • Work on small scale rectifiers and inverters for power conversion and batteries and battery management systems
  • Be part of a multi-disciplinary team to design, develop and deliver renewable energy projects with a specific focus on the electrical aspects of project development
  • Regularly and accurately reporting the status of projects to senior management

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Previous experience with renewable energy systems and distributed generation is considered an asset
  • Knowledge about induction and permanent magnet generators/motors, rectifiers, inverters, drives, and on-grid and off-grid operation of distributed generation systems
  • EIT license with APEGA
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Eligible to work in Canada
