Fitness for Service Analysis Level 1 & 2 Assessments
Course Objective
Description: The Fitness for Service Analysis – Level 1 & 2 Assessments course provides a structured approach to evaluating the integrity of industrial assets, including pressure vessels and piping, based on API 579 guidelines. Participants will learn the Fitness-for-Service (FFS) Engineering Assessment Procedure, covering key topics such as general and localized metal loss due to corrosion and erosion, fatigue damage assessment, crack-like flaw evaluation, and brittle fracture analysis. By integrating inspection reports, material data, and historical records, this training equips engineers and analysts with practical skills for ensuring continued safe operation of critical equipment.
Objectives: What you will learn:
- Introduction to API 579 and its role in asset integrity management
- Understanding inspection reports, materials, and operational history
- Level 1 & Level 2 assessments for critical failure mechanisms, including:
· Brittle Fracture – Identifying risks in existing equipment
· General Metal Loss – Evaluating material degradation
· Crack-Like Flaws – Assessing structural integrity
· Components Operating in the Creep Range – High-temperature considerations
· Dents, Gouges & Dent-Gouge Combinations – Damage evaluation techniques
· Fatigue Damage – Predicting long-term performance
The course is divided into lectures and workshops.
Who should attend: Engineers, inspectors, and analysts involved in asset integrity management, mechanical design, and structural analysis, looking to develop a strong foundation in FFS evaluations as per Level 1 & 2 assessments.
