Fluid-Particle Flows

Suspended particles in water fall due to gravity at different rates depending on their size, shape and weight. Separating the heaviest from the light particles is done by estimating the sedimentation rate. DEM coupled with CFD is used to predict the velocities for each of the particles and thereby simulate the cluster of particles falling in viscous medium. These have special applications in water treatment plants.
